Business Analyst – Market Analysis
About The Position
The Business Analyst will support the Market Analysis IT Standardization and Western Market Expansion initiative. The role serves as the primary liaison among business stakeholders, Market Analysis, NEM, IT delivery teams, and vendors, supporting requirements, project planning, delivery execution, testing, and deployment. The position focuses on requirements leadership, project execution, stakeholder coordination, testing oversight, and deployment readiness for an internally developed Market Analysis platform initiative. The expected outcomes include approved business and functional requirements; clear project plans, milestones, risks, dependencies, and executive reporting; standardized business processes and technology workflows; coordinated work across Market Analysis, NEM, IT, and vendors; successful user acceptance testing, production deployment, and operational transition; and improved platform scalability, operational efficiency, and adoption.
Requirements
- Five or more years of Business Analyst experience.
- Experience supporting technology delivery, platform modernization, or business transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methods and the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to gather requirements, facilitate stakeholder discussions, and translate business needs into actionable deliverables.
- Experience managing schedules, risks, dependencies, decisions, testing, and project reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in energy, utilities, trading, ETRM, market analysis, or ISO/RTO environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-based applications, AWS, data integration, analytics, and reporting platforms.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional business, technology, and vendor teams.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, Jira, Azure DevOps, or comparable delivery and reporting tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, milestone tracking, status reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communications.
- Facilitate requirements workshops and document business, functional, data, and integration requirements.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, action items, risks, assumptions, dependencies, and decisions.
- Create process flows, user stories, use cases, and clear acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, and release activities.
- Partner with business and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood, prioritized, and delivered.
- Support workflow automation, case management, data integration, dashboards, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect tracking, and business sign-off.
- Prepare executive updates, project dashboards, funding updates, and steering committee materials.
- Drive production readiness, documentation, knowledge transfer, deployment planning, and support transition.
