Penn State IT is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and thoughtful Business Analyst to join our dynamic team focused on custom application development and web-developed solutions. This role reports to the Business Analysis Manager on the Business Analysis team and is ideal for a meticulous and curious individual with excellent communication, time management, and planning skills who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. In this role, the Business Analyst will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders—including subject matter experts, executives, operational users, and technical staff—to gather, analyze, and document business requirements aligned with defined scope and objectives.

Requirements

  • Experienced business analysis within ERP environments is ideal.
  • A strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Salesforce, Informatica, and web technologies is essential.
  • Proficiency in project management tools is expected, along with excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with requirements writing and technical documentation is required, and familiarity with change control processes and quality assurance testing is beneficial.

  • This is an advanced level position, where qualified candidates will be able to draw from previous experience to demonstrate competency in the required skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles is a plus, as is a basic understanding of data modeling or SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify impacted parties, define the level of effort required to deliver effective solutions, and translating business needs into actionable user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.
  • Facilitate requirements elicitation through interviews, document reviews, workshops, surveys, and teleconferences.
  • Work closely with both internal and external clients to ensure user-friendly and accessible interfaces and partner with developers to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with business goals.
  • Facilitate activities such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user acceptance testing (UAT), while also performing gap analyses and documenting current and future state business processes.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and communicating updates to stakeholders will be key responsibilities, along with supporting post-launch analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
