Reporting to the Senior Advisor & Director, Business Planning, the Business Analyst partners with business and technology teams to evaluate, design, and improve business processes, services, and systems. The role works closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand needs, define desired outcomes, and translate them into clear, actionable requirements. The Business Analyst analyzes data, identifies opportunities for improvement, and supports the delivery of solutions that align with organizational priorities. This role plays a key part in enabling effective decision-making and shaping future-state processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of business analysis practices, including requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and lifecycle management, using a range of techniques (e.g., workshops, interviews, document analysis)
  • Experience developing and maintaining modern BA artifacts, including user stories, process models (BPMN/UML), journey maps, and decision logs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships, build alignment, and influence decision-making across business and technical teams
  • Knowledge of planning and managing BA activities within project, product, and Agile or hybrid delivery environments
  • Working knowledge of product ownership and product management concepts, including backlog management and value prioritization
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) approaches and quality assurance practices, including test planning and support for user acceptance testing
  • Understanding of change management and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to support solution adoption and continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and project delivery frameworks (e.g., PMI)
  • Ability to analyze and work with data, including basic querying (e.g., SQL), to support insights and decision-making
  • Effectively manage stakeholder expectations
  • Effective Communication and Presentation skills
  • Ability to influence others using analysis techniques
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and elicit requirements
  • Analysis skills that look between 3 levels: Business-Level, Software-Level, Information-Level
  • Effective problem-solving skills that look at the bigger picture
  • Critical thinking and evaluation skills when determining options
  • Must have used the following tools: MS Visio, MS Office, MS SharePoint, Atlassian Products : JIRA and Confluence

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and IT teams to elicit, clarify, and validate business needs aligned to organizational priorities and desired outcomes
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to build shared understanding and drive alignment across business and technology teams
  • Analyze current-state processes, systems, and data to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements, user stories, and process models that support solution design and delivery
  • Collaborate with IT and cross-functional teams (e.g., project managers, developers, QA) to refine requirements and support iterative solution development
  • Support solution design by evaluating options and assessing impacts to ensure alignment with business objectives, technical constraints, and architecture standards
  • Maintain requirements traceability and manage scope changes, ensuring impacts are assessed and communicated effectively
  • Utilize tools such as Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) to manage requirements, track work, and maintain accessible, up-to-date documentation
  • Develop and maintain documentation including user stories, process flows, decision logs, and knowledge repositories
  • Use data and insights to inform decision-making, define success measures, and evaluate solution outcomes
  • Support testing by defining acceptance criteria, validating results, and ensuring solutions meet business needs
  • Communicate complex concepts, requirements, and project updates in a clear, concise, and audience-appropriate manner
  • Create visual, easy-to-understand materials (e.g., process maps, presentations, dashboards) to support stakeholder understanding and decision-making
  • Present project details, risks, and progress updates to diverse audiences in a simplified and actionable manner
  • Support change readiness through communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and ways of working to enhance delivery effectiveness
  • Provide light project management support for smaller initiatives or workstreams, as required
  • Partner with the project manager to support planning, coordination, and tracking of deliverables and timelines
