Business Analyst (Emerging Technology)
About The Position
The Business Analyst will support the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on emerging technology initiatives within the agency. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and translating operational needs into actionable documentation for technology projects. The Business Analyst will work collaboratively with stakeholders to support the planning and delivery of technology solutions aligned with DPS objectives. The selected candidate will operate within a hybrid work environment, contributing both on-site and remotely as coordinated with the agency.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a senior-level Business Analyst in a technology or related field.
Nice To Haves
- 5 years of working knowledge of Agile project management methodology and practices.
- 2 years of experience with understanding and documentation of use cases.
- 2 years of experience with process documentation and mapping.
- Candidate must comply with all Texas Department of Public Safety policies and agency requirements.
- Any travel performed outside the primary work location requires pre-approved written authorization from Texas Department of Public Safety.
- All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.
- The candidate may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as requested and pre-approved by Texas Department of Public Safety.
- Overtime hours exceeding 40 per week must be coordinated and pre-approved by Texas Department of Public Safety.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and document business requirements for emerging technology projects within the agency.
- Facilitate meetings and working sessions with stakeholders to gather, validate, and refine requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed process documentation and workflow maps.
- Author use case documentation to support system design and development activities.
- Identify gaps between current and future-state business processes and recommend solutions.
- Support Agile project management activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure business requirements are clearly understood and accurately implemented.
- Track project deliverables and communicate status updates to stakeholders and project leadership.
- Contribute to the development of test scenarios and user acceptance testing criteria.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other project artifacts as required.
