About The Position

The Operations Support and Analytics Team supports the efficient and effective movement of freight throughout CTC’s delivery network. This support is provided in a number of forms, including; research and data analysis, process improvement projects, carrier rate / contract negotiations support and reporting. The team works closely with the Canadian Dispatch and Carrier Support Team, Direct Ship, Fleet Services, the Transportation Development & Support Team and the Visibility Team, but also has frequent involvement with Planning, Logistics, Distribution, International Transportation, Marketing, Finance and IT.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze datasets, build reports, and communicate findings.
  • Experience working with Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, Power Query).
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
  • Ability to automate tasks using Python, R, or another programming language.
  • A creative, analytical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and comfort working with large, complex data.
  • A strong communicator who can translate complex data into clear messages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deep‑dive quantitative analysis, transforming large datasets into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Access, validate, and extract data from multiple internal and external sources using tools such as SQL, Excel, Python, and Power BI.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and automated reporting solutions to support operational decision‑making.
  • Interpret data and present insights effectively to leadership and cross‑functional partners.
  • Document current processes and support development of training and reference materials.
  • Map existing workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and support automation or simulation modelling.
  • Run recurring operational reports to gather freight, shipment, and forecast data.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring co‑op students supporting various reporting and analytical tasks.
