Business Analyst, Senior (IT Mainframe Modernization)
About The Position
532 Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a focus on Mainframe maintenance and modernization. This role is for a high-level problem solver with deep technical acumen, exceptional stakeholder management and speaking skills, and a proven track record of delivering enterprise-level system solutions. The position is remote within the United States and requires U.S. Citizenship or Green Card, with a background investigation for a Public Trust Security Clearance. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will lead the evaluation, optimization, and transformation of business systems and workflows, acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. You will drive the requirements lifecycle for complex initiatives, identify strategic process improvements, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Business Systems Analyst.
- 9+ years of total experience.
- Proven experience defining UAT strategies, writing complex text scenarios, and leading cross-functional teams through validation and system sign-off.
- Deep expertise in software development lifecycles (SDLC).
- Extensive experience driving projects within Agile, Scrum, Scaled Agile (SAFe), or hybrid environments.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, negotiate competing priorities, and articulate complex concepts to all audiences.
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card.
- Must live in the United States.
- Must have lived in the U.S. fulltime for three of the last five years.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency with Mainframe Technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
- Expert-level proficiency in managing and structuring project spaces within Jira, Confluence, or equivalent enterprise product management suites.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMI-PBA, or advanced Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe Product Owner / Project Manager).
- Experience with Medicare or Medicaid systems, insurance, or claims payment systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional requirements gathering sessions for complex initiatives.
- Translate high-level business goals into comprehensive functional specifications, technical requirements, and strategic roadmaps.
- Evaluate enterprise-wide business processes and system architectures to identify critical gaps, redundancies, and inefficiencies.
- Design and propose scalable, future-state workflow solutions.
- Oversee the functional testing and validation of complex system features.
- Define user acceptance testing (UAT) strategies and collaborate to ensure enterprise deliverables match business requirements.
- Establish best practices for business documentation, including advanced user stories, use cases, and complex data/process flow diagrams.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior or mid-level analysts on the team.
