Business Analyst / Scrum Master

HyertekRockville, MD

About The Position

HyerTek is a federal technology consulting firm delivering secure Microsoft-based enterprise solutions, data analytics, and modernization services to government agencies. With deep expertise across Microsoft Dynamics, Power Platform, Power BI, and secure federal IT delivery, we help agencies modernize mission-critical systems and improve operational performance. HyerTek is hiring a Business Analyst / Scrum Master to support Agile delivery teams modernizing legacy applications onto modern Microsoft-centric platforms. You will own both the requirements and the Scrum cadence for your team, translating mission needs into clear, testable work and ensuring teams have what they need to deliver. This is a dual-focus role. On the analysis side, you will elicit requirements, author user stories and acceptance criteria, continuously refine the backlog, and maintain traceability between requirements and delivered functionality. On the facilitation side, you will run Scrum ceremonies, track velocity, remove impediments, and coordinate dependencies across the team. You will also author the end-user documentation that ships with each release and design and deliver the training that drives adoption. You will be embedded directly with delivery teams on customer engagements, partnering with Product Owners, developers, and government stakeholders. Your work will go to federal customers, and the clarity of your requirements and the effectiveness of your facilitation will directly shape their experience with HyerTek.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of combined experience as a Business Analyst, Scrum Master, or in a hybrid BA/SM role on application development teams.
  • Demonstrated experience eliciting, authoring, and refining requirements — user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring end-user-facing documentation — user guides, SOPs, or equivalent — that shipped with a software or web-based platform product.
  • Experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and managing backlogs in Azure DevOps.
  • Comfort delivering training to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 stack (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Comfort working independently across multiple concurrent priorities.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Eligible for a DoD Secret clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, or SharePoint as a delivery platform.
  • Prior DoD or federal contract experience.
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I, or equivalent).
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications onto low-code or SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with AI-assisted tooling for requirements decomposition, user story generation, or documentation.
  • Familiarity with instructional design frameworks (ADDIE or SAM) or eLearning authoring tools.
  • Previous usage of SharePoint/Teams as a documentation and collaboration platform.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies for Agile delivery teams — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Elicit requirements through interviews, workshops, and stakeholder shadowing; author user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Refine the product backlog continuously across sprints — splitting epics, clarifying edge cases, and keeping work two sprints ahead of ready.
  • Partner with Product Owners on prioritization, release planning, and alignment with the Definition of Ready.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and delivered functionality.
  • Track sprint velocity, identify impediments, and remove or escalate them to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Coordinate dependencies, risks, and timelines across the team and with adjacent delivery efforts.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements for development and QA teams.
  • Author end-user and administrator documentation that ships with each release — user guides, quick-reference cards, SOPs, and release notes.
  • Design and deliver end-user training, both instructor-led and asynchronous, for non-technical federal audiences.
  • Keep documentation and training assets in sync with the product as features evolve across sprints.
  • Support UAT planning, defect triage, and adoption activities through go-live.
  • Lead through influence rather than authority — building credibility with stakeholders and consensus across cross-functional teams.
