About The Position

The Business Analyst, Pricing & Profitability Intelligence plays a critical role in how AWC understands and improves profitability across the business. This individual contributor is responsible for building and evolving a profitability “operating system” that connects pricing, cost, supplier programs, and customer outcomes. By bringing clarity to Gross Margin and Contribution Margin, treating rebates and SPAs as primary economic levers, this role directly impacts margin expansion, decision-making, and long-term value creation. Requirements

  • Strong critical thinking and business analysis skills with the ability to reconcile data and create finance-grade insights
  • Clear understanding of Gross Margin vs Contribution Margin and margin drivers
  • Experience building dashboards and translating data into actionable recommendations (Power BI / Excel)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making across teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset (PDCA)
  • Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience in pricing, profitability, or commercial analytics strongly considered
  • Background in industrial distribution, manufacturing, or commercial pricing environments
  • Experience with cost-to-serve modeling, margin waterfalls, or quote-to-cash analytics
  • Understanding of accruals, claims processes, and financial timing impacts
  • Experience designing pricing guardrails, deal desk insights, or profitability frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a single source of truth for Gross Margin and Contribution Margin across customers, products, and suppliers
  • Develop margin waterfalls connecting price, cost, cost-to-serve, and supplier funding to true profitability
  • Deliver dashboards and insights that leaders use to drive better pricing and purchasing decisions
  • Create visibility into rebate and SPA performance
  • Identify and recover margin leakage from missed claims, mapping errors, and compliance gaps
  • Partner with Purchasing and Finance to improve program setup, accrual accuracy, and claim cycle time
  • Ensure margin consistency from quote → order → invoice → realized profitability
  • Analyze and explain variances, identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Develop profitability-based pricing guardrails that reflect true economics
  • Provide insights that help Sales identify profitable growth opportunities
  • Support exception workflows by distinguishing pricing issues, cost anomalies, and funding opportunities
  • Lead a Monthly Profitability Operating Review (MOR) with Sales, Purchasing, and Finance
  • Quantify margin leakage and track recovery actions
  • Drive continuous improvement through PDCA cycles focused on margin expansion
  • Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Finance, and IT to align data, processes, and behaviors
  • Support enterprise initiatives that improve pricing discipline and profitability visibility
  • Ensure systems and reporting reflect accurate, actionable insights
