About The Position

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a fixed-term Business Analyst, IT for parental leave coverage. This role is responsible for implementing, enhancing, and configuring IT solutions to support the organization's initiatives and operations. The primary focus will be on configuring and supporting the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and other business applications, their integrations, and coordinating with the business units that use them. Key skills will include business requirement gathering, needs assessments, and system analysis.

Requirements

  • A college diploma or bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or Management Systems is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with configuring, maintaining and supporting Point of Sale systems.
  • Proficient with tools and processes that support the definition, selection, design and implementation of technology.
  • Proficient in business requirements gathering.
  • Proficient in Business Cases/Cost-Benefit analyses.
  • Proficient in Systems and User Testing.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal for communicating technical IT concepts to audiences with a variety of technical knowledge and comfort.
  • Meeting facilitation skills to lead and chair meetings with interdepartmental teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, relationship building, team participation/leading.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills for managing multiple projects through to completion.
  • A strong commitment to deliver high quality outcomes within deadlines.
  • Customer service focus while supporting internal stakeholders’ questions, ideas, and concerns.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Tessitura and/or Toast is a great asset.
  • Data reporting and integration experience an asset; Database/Reporting/Business Intelligence (MSSQL, SSIS, SSRS preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing operational and project-based support for core business applications with a strong focus on backend configuration and maintenance.
  • Perform business application setup and configuration.
  • Handle general system troubleshooting and support.
  • Participate in recurring system and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist with new system implementations or migrations.
  • Conduct staff training, documentation, and coaching.
  • Analyze and improve business processes across systems and departments.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in system workflows and processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for system knowledge, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Gather business requirements using techniques such as stakeholder interviews, process monitoring, and collaborative workshops.
  • Translate business needs into solutions.
  • Support solution design by bridging business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Contribute to business case development, including cost/benefit analysis and solution evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions using tools such as SSRS and SSIS.
  • Support ETL data integration between systems (e.g., Point of Sales, CRM, finance systems).
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment across platforms.
  • Assist in troubleshooting data discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
