About The Position

The Business Analyst (BA 2) provides analysis and recommendations to improve business efficiency and/or business process improvements. The BA 2 will analyze business needs, determine core competencies; and work in close association with the IT to get the business requests completed. The BA 2 will function to translate business needs into requirements specifications and ensure the project scope aligns with project vision and budgetary requirements. The BA 2 will work with the development team to ensure business requirements are understood. PMD is looking to hire someone with adequate business knowledge, excellent communication, and strong analytical skills.

Requirements

  • Excellent written communication – Ability to write clearly and effectively and to document requirements that are unambiguous, realistic, and testable.
  • 3+ years of project management experience required.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office toolset.
  • Ability to quickly gain an understanding of the business and be able to effectively represent the business interests to the project team.
  • Effectively communicate with and between various interest groups – some having opposing priorities and interests.
  • Possess a clear understanding of software development processes and procedures (SDLC).
  • Ability to manage business stakeholder expectations and multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Business Analysis or Choice Administrator business knowledge and experience is preferred
  • Health insurance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Succinctly describe a business need; determine whether it is required or optional.
  • Ensure that requirements are fully identified and defined.
  • Conduct one-on-one, small, and large team interviews.
  • Conceptualize and define the scope of a project.
  • Gain an understanding of the breadth of requirements and be able to effectively explain them without getting lost in the details.
  • Perform gap analysis as required
  • Document business requirements on the PMD-approved BRD templates
  • Prioritize requirements and ensure focus is on key business needs.
  • Participate in joint sessions with developers and other project team members. (Backlog Grooming, Sprint Prioritization, and Daily Scrum Meetings)
  • Document Smoke Testing scenarios and participate in smoke testing efforts
  • Create User Training material as required
  • Meet deliverable deadlines.
  • Represent the project team’s interest in the business and manage user expectations.
  • Support Project Planning and Reporting activities.
  • Ensure business satisfaction and manage expectations.
  • Clear PMD roadblocks.
  • On-site regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other business tasks or functions as assigned.
