About The Position

McCormick is seeking to hire a BUSINESS ANALYST II - TRANSPORTATION immediately in a Hybrid (50/50) capacity at its Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland. This role is responsible for the daily execution of the transportation plan for assigned US McCormick distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and copackers, ensuring the optimal transportation plan is achieved while maintaining established customer service levels. Modal considerations include TL, LTL, Intermodal, and Package.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Distribution, Logistics or Transportation - 6 years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5-7 years experience in Transportation, Distribution, Materials Management, Purchasing and/or Logistics.
  • Must possess knowledge of transportation strategies, regulations and policies.
  • Microsoft Office required.
  • Good knowledge of technical activities and procedures to perform duties and a basic knowledge of these elements in other areas.
  • Good understanding of how the team integrates with other functions to achieve OGSMs.
  • Back-up to Mgr for supervisory responsibility, coaches other members of the Department and provides training.
  • Self-management of own workload.
  • Operates and communicates effectively across multiple functions.
  • Ability to work with carrier base to ensure that customer requirements are met and terms of contract are honored by carrier.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Daily internal interaction with Distribution supervisory and operations team, business unit customer service supervisory team and analysts, Carrier Management Team and Supply Planning.
  • Daily external interaction with carrier representatives and material suppliers.
  • Occasional external interaction with TMS provider technical personnel.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • SAP, Manugistics/JDA software experience.
  • Experience in leading teams.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the transportation plan to ensure optimal transportation utilization is achieved.
  • Analyze customer and logistics data to deliver service performance for all inbound shipments within the US and Canada from suppliers to plant facilities.
  • Utilize system technologies to produce efficient transportation solutions, document and train others in system requirements/maintenance, and provide first-line support for system issues.
  • Identify and sustain continuous improvement opportunities related to the respective planning region, develop and sustain strategies for improvement, and lead 'small' projects through to completion.
  • Responsible for the production of monthly reports for the planning region based on metrics/results.
  • Manage Inbound Planning activities by ensuring daily objectives are met, facilitating and organizing cross-functional team meetings, developing strategies, and executing new supplier onboarding initiatives.
  • Train new team members and continuously mentor teammates.
  • Manage team vacation and flex schedules, ensuring that all service requirements are covered daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.
