About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Business Analyst to join their Food Services Team. This role is responsible for analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in service and efficiencies through innovative practices. The Business Analyst will support strategic planning by analyzing business systems data from various perspectives (human resources, financial, clinical, etc.) using advanced statistical and analytical methods. They will customize reports for departmental needs, advise management on process improvements, and monitor the performance of the quality management system, reporting on key indicators. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Information Technology or related field.
  • Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in data analysis and system quality management.
  • Experience using querying tools (e.g. PeopleSoft, Crystal Reports, Access, Excel, SQL) to access relational databases.
  • Strong statistical skills to analyze data and information.
  • Strong knowledge of quality processes.
  • Strong facilitation and education skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to function in both a long-term strategic perspective and short-term operational perspective.
  • Ability to comprehend broad implications of business decisions.
  • Ability to identify, collect and analyse relevant data and information including industry-wide assessments and research.
  • Innovative and results oriented.
  • Keeps abreast of technology changes, anticipates opportunities and ensures readiness for future technology changes and enhancements.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.

  • Supporting strategic planning initiatives by conducting ongoing analysis of business systems data from various perspectives (human resources, financial, clinical etc), using advanced statistical and analytical methods.
  • Customizing reporting to suit departmental business needs and advising management on recommendations for improving internal and external processes.
  • Monitoring and advising on the performance of the quality management system, producing data and reporting on performance, measuring against set indicators.
