About The Position

VDOT - Asset Management Team is looking to fill a Business Analyst position with a candidate with strong analytical thinking, technical proficiency, requirements gathering proficiency, and experience in Agile/Waterfall methodologies. The role requires the ability to translate between technical and business users, document processes clearly, handle conflict, and assist with testing. Experience in rolling out new systems and managing user adoption is also important.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of BA Experience in IT projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • IT software/application project experience required.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software like Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Understanding of databases (SQL), APIs, Data Flow Diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of how IT systems work.
  • Strong familiarity and previous experience with using Azure DevOPS (TFS) for creating and managing agile items.
  • Previous experience in working with Agile/Scrum (including SAFe) AND Waterfall projects.
  • Experience with Business Process Modelling.
  • Agile Business Analyst; Strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodologies (5 Years).
  • Well versed with Scrum and Agile, Scaled Agile and Kanban methodologies (5 Years).
  • Technical experience in organizing and maintaining sprint and product backlogs (5 Years).
  • Technical experience translating client and product strategy requirement into application requirements and user stories (5 Years).
  • Documenting high level Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Cases and execution of test cases (5 Years).
  • Ability to analyze and document business and system processes (5 Years).
  • Have a strong understanding of multi tiered applications (5 Years).

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze complex processes and systems and break them down into manageable parts.
  • Find root causes of problems, not just symptoms.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops.
  • Write clear, testable, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Create and manage agile items in Azure DevOPS (TFS) including Product backlog, Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Test Plans and Test Cases.
  • Prepare diagrams explaining modifications for both technical staff and executive management.
  • Create wireframes or visualization examples (Visio) from requirements.
  • Translate technical concepts to business users and business concepts to developers.
  • Write clear documents and deliver strong presentations.
  • Handle pushback, negotiate priorities, and resolve conflict diplomatically.
  • Document Business Process Models using Swim Lane and Flow Chart Diagrams.
  • Roll out new systems/processes and manage user adoption.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in addition to performing system integration testing (IT Testing).
