About The Position

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is looking for a proactive Business Administrator (Specialist) to support the Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) at Newport News Shipbuilding. This role offers unique growth and leadership opportunities, serving as the on site representative for the NNL in coordinating Security, Facilities, and Safety activities. You will manage essential office operations including budgeting, support travel management, SharePoint site management, PPE programs, shipping/receiving, personnel onboarding, security operations, and facility upkeep while supporting RPCO managers and staff. The position also involves maintaining technical libraries and using tools like OneNote, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Microsoft lists, workflows, databases, and spreadsheets to keep the organization running smoothly. Roughly half of the Business Administrator's time will be spent supporting the local office directly, while the other half will be supporting the entire Shipyard Field Engineering program through process improvements, developing computer-based tools, and supporting program's administrative staff with operations and program initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizens
  • Ability to pass a drug test

  • Current/previous administrative experience in a demanding work environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft O365, and SharePoint.

  • Experience creating and maintaining websites; specifically proficient skills in SharePoint ownership, structure, and permissions management.

  • Experience in performing budget management and streamlining business processes to enhance office efficiency.
