About The Position

The Business Administrator I manages a full range of business activities for COM Round Rock Campus, including reviewing and approving business documents for the unit head and developing, monitoring and reporting accounts, unit budget, and other quantitative data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the review and approval of vouchers and requisitions.
  • Review and approve account reconciliations.
  • Assist with managing financial transactions, including assigning costs to appropriate accounts and projects.
  • Monitor and control operating expenditures and make projections.
  • Assist in the development of annual budget documents.
  • Prepare and analyze business reports.
  • Propose solutions for complex financial problems.
  • Oversee annual fiscal year closing activities.
  • Manage allocations and reporting on unit facilities, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Manage cash handling activities and unit capital equipment purchasing.
  • Manage maintenance of business files
  • Develop complex administrative, financial, and statistical analyses and summary reports.
  • Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and monitor programs or services.
  • Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Serves as liaison with financial, payroll, and human resources units.
  • Interpret Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies and regulations and Texas A&M University (TAMU) rules.
  • Assist in special investigations, program analysis, and research studies.
  • Implement and audit business procedures and train staff on new and existing procedures.
  • Stay abreast of accounting, HR, payroll finance, and other relevant policies, procedures, services and practices that impact college Business Services and customers.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of subordinate business staff and student workers.
  • Attend training, conferences, and seminars as appropriate.
  • Manage personnel activities including preparing position analyses, updating position descriptions, and developing employment offers.
  • Communicate with employees regarding personnel policies and procedures and identify training needs.
  • May supervise staff and resolves staff conflicts.
  • Stay informed of customer concerns by understanding college Business Services and TAMUS and TAMU processes and tools and who is responsible for them, FAMIS, Business Objects, Workday, Emburse, and other systems used by Business Services.
  • Participate in departmental, division, or university level teams, working groups, and committees as appropriate.
  • Assist with various departmental functions, program, and activities.
  • Develop and lead best business practice committees within the college as needed.
