About The Position

Anticipated Opening for 2026-2027 School Year School Bus/Van Aide – May float between routes. The position of a Floating Bus Aide is now open. The normal working hours are 4.75 Hours per Day, Monday through Friday 6:45 AM - 9:15 AM and 1:45 PM - 4:00 PM. The role of a School Bus Aide for Students is responsible to the Transportation Supervisor in the Transportation Department. This is a nine-month contract position for 188 days. The general duties include assisting and helping to monitor and control the behavior of students being transported to and from school. Specific duties involve assisting and monitoring all students at pickup, discharge, and transfer points as they get on and off the bus, monitoring student behavior to ensure adherence to bus rules, and working with the bus driver to complete transportation incident reports. In case of an accident, the aide assists the driver in student evacuation. They also assist the driver and students during medical emergencies and perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor/designee. Other duties include ensuring student safety, working effectively with others, exhibiting professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment, establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships, interacting positively with staff, students, and parents, working in a team environment, and promoting good public relations through personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists and monitors all students at pickup, discharge, and transfer points, as they get on and off the bus.
  • Monitors behavior of the students and helps to see that they are adhering to bus rules and regulations
  • Works with the bus driver to fill out transportation incident reports when corrective action is needed.
  • In the event of an accident, assists the driver in the evacuation of students.
  • Assists the driver and students in the event of a medical emergency.
  • Performs such other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor/designee.
