About The Position

This role is for a Bus Operator at the Victory Delco Bus Depot, requiring the ability to operate three modes of transportation: Bus, Light Rail, and the Norristown High Speed Line. The starting pay is $27.21 hourly, increasing to $38.88 hourly after four years of service. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Requirements

• A minimum of three (3) years licensed driving experience.
• No suspensions in the last three (3) years (from the date of application back three (3) years).
• No more than one (1) moving violation in the last three (3) years.
• Valid driver’s license with no driving with a suspended/revoked license over the past 5 years.
• Ability to successfully complete/pass an interview, employment history verification, criminal background check, and Pre-Employment medical examination including drug & alcohol screening.
• Required to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, split days off / swings, especially during the first two (2) years of employment.
• Pass a Basic Math and Reading test through SEPTA'S CRC Testing Center in lieu of a High School Diploma/GED.
• Obtain CDL Permits: CDL Class B (General Knowledge), Passenger Endorsement, and Air Brake Restriction Removal, no later than two (2) weeks before the tentative start date.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations while ensuring that passengers have a safe ride.
• Work a guaranteed forty (40) hours a week, provided physically working.
• Drive passenger vehicle while following all safety procedures for vehicle operation.
• Stop vehicles at assigned areas so that passengers can board and unload.
• Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicles.
• Announce stops to passengers.
• Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off the bus.
• Answer general questions about bus schedules or routes.
• Report delays, passenger emergencies, and accidents.
• Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
• Prepare accident reports when required.
• Learn to operate three modes of transportation: Bus Operator, Light Rail Operator (Media / Sharon Hill Trolley), and the Norristown High Speed Line.
• Obtain Rail Certification on the Media Sharon Hill Trolley and the Norristown High Speed Line.
• Maintain Rail certifications through an annual recertification class.
