About The Position

Join OCTA as a Coach Operator and play a vital role in safely transporting passengers throughout Orange County. You’ll provide exceptional customer service while operating agency motor coaches along designated routes. This position will remain open until filled. OCTA is the county’s transportation planning commission and public transit operator. With a focus on safety and accountability, we plan, fund, and implement countywide projects that include bus and rail transit, freeways and express lanes, rideshare, microtransit, paratransit, active transportation, and environmental programs. Requirements

Minimum age of 21 with a clean, current DMV driving record
Ability to pass state-mandated physical performance tests
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work variable hours, shifts, and locations
Ability to make basic arithmetic calculations and complete required forms
Willingness to complete OCTA’s Student Coach Operator Training Program
California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B) with passenger endorsement, or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

Safely operate a motor coach and adhere to route schedules
Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers and those with disabilities
Collect fares, issue transfers, and make stop/transfer announcements
Follow all traffic laws and agency policies
Report accidents, incidents, and vehicle maintenance needs
Complete required forms and documentation accurately
