About The Position

As a school bus monitor, you assist the driver with the safe management of students onboard the vehicle. Duties may include helping students enter and exit, performing safety checks, leading emergency evacuations, and communicating behavior issues with parents and management. This is a part-time position in Grand Junction, Colorado, with a Monday-Friday split-shift schedule and a pay range of $18.00-$20.50 an hour. Requirements

At least 1 year of experience working with children or students.
Complete a comprehensive training program.
Pre-employment background checks.

Responsibilities

Monitor all passengers to ensure safety is maintained on the bus.
Assist students in entering and exiting the bus.
Perform safety checks on the bus to ensure the safety of students.
Know the routes and remain alert to monitor passengers’ welfare while en route.
Check the bus for sleeping children.
Assist the driver in safely directing the vehicle while backing, when necessary.
Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including use of the emergency exit door.
Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times a day.
Communicate behavior problems and conditions of bus stops with the driver.
Liaise with parents as needed.
Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the assigned bus.
Occasionally attend field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.
