About The Position

The Bus Monitor will supervise all children riding an assigned school bus, ensuring they develop and display safe bus riding habits. This role involves loading, securing, and unloading wheelchair students, and providing individualized support to students based on their needs and established plans. The Bus Monitor will assist students with physical disabilities, help students cross the road, and provide hygienic and medical care as required. Additionally, the Bus Monitor will assist the driver in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior, aid in emergency situations as directed, and maintain student records. Other duties as assigned by the transportation director may be required.

Requirements

High School diploma required
Effective and acceptable techniques of human relations in dealing with students, staff members, other school officials, parents, and the general public.
Ability to treat school matters as confidential information.
Certified in CPR and knowledge of basic first aid or willingness to be trained.
Physical ability to evacuate students in emergency situations.
Fingerprinting and background check results to the District prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

Prefer post high school training.
CPI training preferred.
Experience working with school-age children preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise all children riding an assigned school bus.

Load, secure, and unload all wheelchair students.
Provide individualized support to students based on their needs and established plans or directions from district staff.
Assist students with physical disabilities in getting on the bus, in their seats, and off the bus.
Assist students who must cross the road.
Provide hygienic and medical care for students as required.
Assist driver in keeping inside of bus clean and orderly.
Assist driver in emergency situations, as directed.
Maintain student records as directed.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the transportation director.
