The Bus Monitor is responsible for the safety, supervision, and well-being of children during transportation. Key duties include maintaining daily attendance, conducting child health observations, and safely handling and documenting child medications. The role ensures children are properly secured in safety restraints, monitors their safety throughout transport, and assists the Bus Driver during emergencies and evacuation drills, while also maintaining vehicle sanitation. The monitor implements and monitors bus rules, provides educational activities for school readiness, and offers feedback to teaching staff. They act as a liaison between parents and center staff, engage children with activities like singing and storytelling, and ensure proper release of children to authorized individuals. Additionally, the Bus Monitor may provide short-term relief in classrooms or playgrounds, offer interpretation services, assist with staff/child ratios, help with cleaning and maintenance of the building and playground, and supervise children and parents during various program activities and field trips. The role also involves participating in trainings for children with disabilities and assisting in recruitment efforts.
