About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Bus Monitor/Aide serving a school district in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania. The monitor assists the bus driver in providing students with a safe journey to and from school. No prior school bus monitor experience is required; training and safety programs are provided. The role follows a flexible split-shift schedule for morning and afternoon routes on weekdays, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or summers. The position requires English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
• Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
• Friendly, reliable, and patient when working with children.
• Team-oriented, with a focus on safety.
• English proficiency for job-related communications.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help students safely board and exit the bus.
• Assist children with special needs during transport.
• Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules.
• Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride.
• Provide care and encouragement to students each day.
• Assist with emergency procedures as needed.
