About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Bus Monitor/Aide in Amsterdam School District, Fultonville, New York. The monitor assists the bus driver in providing students with a safe trip to and from school. No prior school bus monitor experience is required; training and safety programs are provided. The role has a flexible weekday split-shift schedule for morning and afternoon routes, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or summers. The hourly rate is $19.00–$20.00, depending on experience and qualifications. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered, subject to conditions. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
• Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
• Friendly, reliable, and patient when working with children.
• Team-oriented, with a focus on safety.
• English proficiency.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help students safely board and exit the bus.
• Assist children with special needs during transport.
• Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules.
• Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride.
• Provide care and encouragement to students each day.
