About The Position

Cathay Transportation is seeking a dependable and skilled Bus Maintenance Technician to join its maintenance team. The technician inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs buses to help ensure the fleet operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. The role calls for attention to detail, pride in workmanship, and a commitment to vehicle safety and preventive maintenance.

Requirements

Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and vehicle diagnostic equipment safely.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to lift heavy components and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in diesel mechanics, automotive repair, or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance is preferred.
CDL and/or relevant mechanic certifications are preferred, depending on job requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on buses.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and air brake systems.
Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and other scheduled maintenance.
Inspect and repair engines, transmissions, suspension systems, steering components, and cooling systems.
Identify mechanical issues and complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Communicate maintenance concerns and repair needs to the maintenance supervisor.
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and assist with emergency repairs as needed.
