About The Position

Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced bus driver using a GFS mini-bus or van to transport students from our school to another location in Baltimore. The days needed are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, departing GFS around 12:35pm and returning by approximately 5-5:15pm. Interaction with the students (about 14 per term) is a part of this responsibility. This is a part-time position and the hourly rate range for this position is $16-$18/hour based on experience level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process. The program runs now through the end of May, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with exceptions for Thanksgiving break, Winter break, Spring break, some days during Exam Weeks, and days students have irregular school days. There will be some other occasional driving needs for our Public Health program on other days/times, if/when the driver is available.

Requirements

Must have a good driving record.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
May be subject to testing to satisfy MVR regulations for school drivers.
Must maintain a driving record in accordance with COMAR (code of Maryland regulations).
Must possess, or be able to obtain, all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
Will be subject to background checks and other random screenings.

Responsibilities

Transport students from Garrison Forest School to another location in Baltimore using a GFS mini-bus or van.
Depart GFS around 12:35pm and return by approximately 5-5:15pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Interact with students during transportation.
Handle occasional other driving needs for the Public Health program on other days/times, if available.
Wait at one of the locations in between drop off and pick up.
Navigate parking challenges, as the typical parking at locations does not accommodate the mini-bus size, requiring street parking nearby.
Monitor weather conditions and adjust plans for safety if necessary, which may include not going to locations or moving up pickup times.
