The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) is a federally recognized tribal government dedicated to the economic and social advancement of its people. Established in the early 1900s and formally recognized under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, the RSIC represents over 1,100 members of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe Tribes—Three Tribes, One Nation. Our lands include the original 28-acre Colony in central west Reno and a 1,920-acre community in Hungry Valley, located 19 miles north of the Colony in the scenic Eagle Canyon region of Nevada. The RSIC is a vibrant and growing organization that honors traditional teachings and cultural heritage while embracing modern business practices and innovative governance. We employ over 300 individuals, including more than 150 tribal members, and are committed to fostering a professional work environment that encourages talent, motivation, and career development. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age to qualify for the RSIC Vehicle Insurance Program
  • Valid State of Nevada Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and "S" endorsements
  • Good driving record verified through a DMV printout
  • Understand and implement policies, regulations, and safety guidelines
  • Experience in writing and updating policies
  • Physical stamina: standing, walking, sitting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultures and the needs of the Native American community
  • Ability to pass annual health screenings
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications
  • Must possess and maintain infant, child and adult CPR certification, First Aid certification and a Food Handler’s Certification within three (3) months from date of hire and each year thereafter.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervising the transportation of children to and from school.
  • Ensuring adherence to public safety rules and internal procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for the children.
  • Assisting in the care and education of children, implementing Head Start Performance Standards and Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Policies.
  • Conducting safety inspections.
  • Training staff on essential safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring a comprehensive approach to health and safety in accordance with Indian Health Services Tribal Health and Safety Code and Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines.
