About The Position

Inspire Development Centers provide early Childhood Education (ECE) and social services to 3,110 children in center-based and home-based settings at more than 25 Child Development Centers (CDC) throughout the State of Washington. At these sites, Inspire employs over 1,000 staff on a $52 million annual budget. Inspire provides these services under various federal and state funded programs with differing regulations and stipulations, which must be coordinated and adhered to. A large majority of children’s first language is Spanish. Over the past 40 years, Inspire has strategically and incrementally increased its capacity to address the rapidly changing needs of its families and communities.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and/or Spanish.

Excellence in building maintenance.
Seven (7) years of regular driving experience.
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Valid Washington State Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B or C with passenger (P1) (P2), and school bus (S) endorsements.
Medical Examiners Certificate.
Yearly driving abstract.
Acceptable driving history.
Proof of automobile insurance.
Ability to travel to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Must pass initial and periodic background check.
Must pass initial and periodic employee health clearance (present it within forty-five (45) days of employment).
Current Food Handler card (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment).
Current First Aid / CPR cards (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment).
Subject to initial and periodic TB screen.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV / AIDS) training (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment).
Blood Borne Pathogen training (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment).
Subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per IDC Drug and Alcohol policy.
Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
Must complete and sign a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement on an annual basis.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
Two (2) years driving commercial experience or large load transportation.
English/Spanish bi-lingual fluency.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, program recipients, and the general public.
High standards of work ethics - cleanliness and sanitation.

Responsibilities

Ensuring children are transported in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner.
Supervising children on the bus, with support from the Floater/Bus position.
Keeping the building in clean and orderly condition, performing routine maintenance, and notifying supervisors of needed repairs.
Keeping premises neatly groomed and safe by cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks.
Establishing and maintaining bus routes in coordination with the Family Service Worker for review and approval by the Center Manager.
Running fixed routes as written, without unauthorized changes.
Limiting cell phone usage for emergency purposes and other agency-prescribed protocols.
Ensuring general maintenance of buses and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
Maintaining and completing attendance logs, mileage logs, and maintenance logs daily.
Providing training to Bus Monitor(s) throughout the year as needed.
Providing in-service training to staff and parents, and conducting Emergency Bus Evacuations.
Participating in local center meetings to provide orientation on bus safety/protocols, including safety drills and evacuation plans.
Providing/receiving written/oral information between center staff and parent participants.
Immediately reporting incidents, accidents, or unusual situations that could or did place a child at risk of injury, and being willing and able to describe such incidents in writing.
Conducting a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle driven every day and reporting suspected mechanical problems at once.
Conducting a thorough post-trip inspection for children or other items left on board at the conclusion of each trip.
Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning, and disinfecting classrooms, sinks, restrooms, and common areas.
Disposing of all garbage and disinfecting wastebaskets or garbage cans daily.
Keeping outside equipment clean and in good/safe working condition (e.g., lawn mowers, shop vacuums, extractors).
Stripping, waxing, and polishing floors and shampooing carpets according to the center schedule.
Keeping sidewalks, parking lots, and playground areas safe from hazards.
Ensuring all doors and windows are securely locked before closing the center.
Discussing unique concerns of the facility and immediately reporting any unsafe equipment to the Safety Committee Chairperson and/or Center Manager.
Replacing outside light bulbs, exit lights, broken gutters, washing windows, performing minor exterior center repairs, plumbing, and painting.
Checking and changing furnace filters as needed.
Performing lawn maintenance as needed during the growing season, including cutting lawns, watering, weed control, and center landscaping.
Being familiar with the Hazardous Materials Program and ensuring all chemicals, cleaning supplies, and materials are stored and locked in a childproof cabinet or storeroom.
Preparing and maintaining inventories of janitorial supplies, reporting and requesting those that need to be purchased from the Center Manager.
Assisting the head cook and/or cook in storing and dating groceries.
Showing interest in furthering professional growth by attending staff meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars.
Maintaining confidentiality of program and client-related information at all times.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
