Bus Attendant
About The Position
The Bus Attendant supports students with disabilities so they can participate safely in regular bus transportation. The attendant assists students with boarding and exiting, attends to their needs during transportation, and provides supervision and monitoring. The role also involves observing changes in students’ physical condition and accommodating their health needs. The attendant works with the Transportation Supervisor and Bus Driver and closely with the school nurse regarding students’ health concerns. Assistance with field trips and special events may be requested, along with other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma is required.
- Ability to assist students with physical handicapping conditions.
- Ability to work effectively with behavioral challenges.

- Volunteer and/or paid experience working with students with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with disabilities when getting on and off the bus.
- Assist in providing for students’ needs during transportation.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of students.
- Observe and monitor students for physical changes and accommodate their health needs.
- Provide student supervision and monitoring services.
- Operate equipment as required and ensure its proper care and use.
- Assist with field trips and special event activities when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
