About The Position

The Burr Bench Operator is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, foreign material, and other surface imperfections from aerospace components using hand tools and bench equipment. This role is essential to ensuring dimensional accuracy, part cleanliness, and high-quality finishes that meet strict aerospace standards. A successful Burr Bench Operator takes extreme pride in their work, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to producing defect-free work.

Requirements

  • One – three years of experience in deburring, finishing, or similar manual precision work (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • HS Diploma or equivalent and demonstrated math skills for shop calculations.
  • Familiarity with aerospace components or other high-precision metal parts.
  • Strong visual acuity and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using hand finishing tools.
  • Basic computer skills for work order tracking and quality records.
  • Commitment to safety, communication, and team.
  • Must be a "U.S. person" as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15), which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, as required by U.S. export control laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous aerospace or AS9100 manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with close-tolerance materials such as nickel alloys, titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, or aluminum.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring, polishing, chamfering, and surface finishing operations on machined aerospace components using hand tools, abrasive pads, rotary tools, and bench equipment.
  • Visually inspect parts under magnification to identify burrs, scratches, and other nonconformities.
  • Maintain strict adherence to part specifications, engineering drawings, routers, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and bore gauges.
  • Confirm part conformity to dimensional, surface finish, and cosmetic standards, documenting results when required.
  • Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming product and participate in root cause discussions when needed.
  • Maintain clean workstations, manage tool care, and follow 5S practices. Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean processes.
  • Follow all company and regulatory safety requirements, including PPE usage and ergonomic practices.
