About The Position

Smith & Loveless is seeking a Blaster (1st or 2nd Shift) to partner with our experienced production teams in this environmentally focused industry. The primary function of a Blaster (1st or 2nd Shift) at Smith and Loveless will be to blast and prep production items, miscellaneous parts, and products for paint. This is a very physically demanding job. Must be able to carry a heavy blaster and move materials (50-100 lbs). First shift is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Second shift is 4:00pm to 12:30 am.

Requirements

  • Previous forklift experience and certification preferred.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • Demonstrated good work attendance in previous jobs.
  • Read and understand units of measurement.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to pass an alcohol and drug screening, background check, and physical exam.
  • Must be able to perform simple, repetitive routine tasks.
  • Required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to talk and hear consistently.
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or drag up to 100 pounds if necessary.
  • Must be comfortable in small spaces.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
  • Ability to wear PPE (eyeglasses, earplugs, protective coveralls, respiratory device and steel toe shoes).
  • Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Blast and prep production items, miscellaneous parts, and products for paint.
  • Work with steel grit to remove rust on metal.
  • Run overhead cranes.
  • Run forklifts.
