Reporting to the Lead Hand, Shop Foreman, and General Foreman, the Burn Table Operator is responsible for operating oxyfuel and/or plasma cutting tables in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner while complying with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating oxyfuel and/or plasma burn tables
  • Minimum 3 years’ overhead crane experience
  • Experience working in a metal fabrication shop
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and burn sheets
  • Advanced knowledge of general safety practices
  • In-depth understanding of tools, equipment, and their proper care
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Physically capable of lifting items up to 20 kg
  • Proven excellent safety record

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Align steel plate accurately on the cutting table
  • Select appropriate programs and adjust settings (kerf, speed, stand-off, etc.) to meet project requirements
  • Monitor burn quality and make adjustments to ensure accurate, defect-free cuts
  • Inspect finished parts and re-burn defective pieces when required
  • Ensure correct quantities are produced according to burn sheet specifications
  • Change torch tips, electrodes, and nozzles as required
  • Sign off burn sheets upon completion and maintain organized documentation
  • Record cutting table malfunctions in the logbook immediately
  • Update and maintain consumable usage records accurately
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Foreman without delay
