About The Position

This position specializes in operating one or more burning machines to cut plate steel into various shapes. The role involves planning and performing operations that require accurate set-ups, including installing burning tips, adjusting guides, stops, and tables, and determining proper pressures, feeds, speeds, tips, and operating sequences. The operator must be able to recognize when tools and tips need changing and possess blueprint knowledge. The position is supervised by the Warehouse Superintendent or Warehouse Supervisor.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Experience in making templates and some drafting.
Previous burning machine experience.
Excellent math, geometry, measurement and PC skills.
Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet Company and personal goals.
Capable of reading orders, a tape measure, calipers, and blueprints and use of a square.
Capable of using a gas/oxygen torch.
Excellent eye-to-hand coordination.
Excellent reading, writing and math skills as measured by a pre-employment test.
Ability to meet physical demands of position which are required 80% of the workday (i.e. lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, and climbing).

Nice To Haves

Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately locate and identify stock for storage and retrieval.
Safely operate and maintain/clean related machinery and equipment.
Safely operate and adjust machinery and equipment for full utilization.
Accurately process material to minimize waste and drops.
Adjust machinery for full utilization of material with minimal waste.
Notify Supervisor when oxygen, gas and equipment needs to be replaced.
Properly identify and process paperwork necessary for material handling/Production Recording.
Maintain proper records when required.
Perform Warehouse functions when needed and when processing work is not available.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Be helpful and courteous to all customers and employees.
Perform other duties as related or assigned for the benefit of the Company.
Maintain good attendance.
