About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Work at Home Bilingual Bunong - English Phone Interpreter. This is an independent contractor position. As an interpreter, you will receive industry-leading training, learn new skills, and develop your existing skillset. Our interpreters serve clients across numerous industries, including healthcare, 911, first responders, education, government agencies, and various business sectors. You will be working in a certified ASTM and ISO environment and will be supported by a Senior Language Specialist and the Interpreter and Technology Help Desks. We strive for a world where language and cultural barriers do not exist, and you can use your language skills to improve the lives of limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.

Requirements

Fluency in Bunong and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, remain neutral and objective at all times.
Ability to remain on calls that involve sensitive subjects.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
Ability to operate company provided software and systems.
Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
Dedicated personal device for business purposes (Desktop/Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone).
High speed Internet connection (download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, Jitter value of no more than 30 ms).
Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.

Nice To Haves

Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
Ability to read and write the requested languages - highly preferred.
Post-offer, pre-employment background check and/or drug screen may be required based on location.

Responsibilities

Handle calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations between Bunong and English speakers.
Break communication barriers in industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
Process information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences.
Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology and understanding common industry procedures and practices.
Translate verbally, not in writing.
Ensure a quiet and secure work environment.
Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions.
Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol.
Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
Remain on calls for extended periods without breaks if necessary.
Provide the required company standards of service within a dynamic environment.
Adapt to any LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.
