About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. This role involves ensuring the team properly packages and scales bulk items, fills bulk bins, and prepares, wraps, and prices bulk packages accurately and legibly, all while adhering to the merchandising Bulk plan. The manager will also order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and follow the company’s cleaning and sanitation program. Additionally, they will oversee the department’s compliance with all company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures and COOL compliance regulations. A key aspect of this role is providing a high level of customer service and ensuring the Bulk area is always clean and orderly. The manager will also be involved in receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise, as well as engaging and evaluating team members through coaching, feedback, and performance reviews. They will also participate in store meetings, recruit and hire team members in collaboration with the Store Manager, and exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns and take corrective actions when needed. Ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency through scheduling and staffing adjustments is also a core responsibility. The manager will lead a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience. Finally, they will serve as a Key Carrier and/or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment.
  • 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Expected to know weekly ad items.
  • Able to give customers direction of product location throughout the store.
  • Does general housekeeping in the department.
  • Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
  • Have and show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
  • Able to move vertically/horizontally transferring product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 36”, for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
  • Requires continuous standing for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
  • Able to perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Following the merchandising Bulk plan.
  • Ensuring team members properly package and scale bulk items, fill bulk bins, and prepare, wrap, and price bulk packages accurately and legibly.
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory, rotating product using code dates, and following the company’s cleaning and sanitation program.
  • Overseeing the department’s compliance with all company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures and COOL compliance regulations.
  • Communicating standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Ensuring Bulk items are properly prepared, packaged and presented, and the Bulk area is clean and orderly at all times.
  • Receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise as needed.
  • Engaging and evaluating team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions, and making recommendations on merit increases via completing the bi-annual performance review process.
  • Regularly attending and participating in in-store meetings.
  • Recruiting, hiring and making promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Confidently exercising independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
  • Taking and documenting corrective actions when needed, including collaboration with business and HR partners in managing performance to include coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed.
  • Ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
  • Leading a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience your customers will receive.
  • Serving as a Key Carrier for the store and/or acting as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.
