About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. This role involves ensuring the team properly packages and scales bulk items, fills bulk bins, and prepares, wraps, and prices bulk packages accurately. The manager will also order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and adhere to the company’s cleaning and sanitation program. Additionally, the Bulk Manager oversees the department’s compliance with safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations, communicates standards and expectations to team members, and provides a high level of customer service. They ensure bulk items are prepared, packaged, and presented correctly, and the bulk area remains clean and orderly. The role includes receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise, as well as engaging and evaluating team members through coaching, feedback, and performance reviews. The Bulk Manager also participates in store meetings, recruits and hires staff in collaboration with the Store Manager, addresses team member concerns, and manages performance issues. They ensure maximum productivity by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels, and lead a team to deliver quality products and exceptional customer service. The Bulk Manager may also serve as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment.
  • 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
  • Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
  • Outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
  • Ability to move vertically/horizontally transferring product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 36”, for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
  • Continuous standing for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Following the merchandising Bulk plan and ensuring the team properly packages and scales bulk items, fills bulk bins, and prepares, wraps, and prices bulk packages accurately.
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory, rotating product using code dates, and following the company’s cleaning and sanitation program.
  • Overseeing the department’s compliance with all company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures and COOL compliance regulations.
  • Communicating standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Ensuring Bulk items are properly prepared, packaged and presented, and the Bulk area is clean and orderly at all times.
  • Receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise as needed throughout the day.
  • Engaging and evaluating team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions, and making recommendations on merit increases via completing the bi-annual performance review process.
  • Regularly attending and participating in in-store meetings.
  • Recruiting, hiring and making promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Confidently exercising independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
  • Taking and documenting corrective actions when needed, including collaboration with business and HR partners in managing performance to include coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed.
  • Ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
  • Leading a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience your customers will receive.
  • Serving as a Key Carrier for the store and/or acting as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.
