About The Position

The Bulk Loader position is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient loading of lime products into railcars and trucks while supporting production and customer service objectives. This role ensures proper product handling, documentation, sampling, housekeeping, and equipment operation while maintaining compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards.

  • Perform work in indoor and outdoor plant and quarry environments.
  • Perform physical activities, including standing, bending, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, sitting and reaching.
  • Access all areas of the plant, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 120 feet, entering confined spaces and accessing tunnels.
  • Work safely around high temperature kiln systems, moving equipment, conveyors, and mobile equipment.
  • Work in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and lime/mineral particles.
  • Ability to see, hear, communicate, and maintain situational awareness in an industrial environment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or Associate’s degree in related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in heavy manufacturing, mining, or industrial plant operations.
  • Experience operating Shuttlewagon, Trackmobile, or other railcar-moving equipment.
  • Experience operating computerized systems and completing shipping documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in compliance with all company policies and all applicable MSHA, environmental, and safety.
  • Consistently wear and properly use all required PPE, including but not limited to hard hat, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel‑toe/metatarsal boots, gloves, high‑visibility clothing, and respiratory protection as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and working at heights.
  • Immediately report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervision.
  • Participate in pre‑shift meetings, safety training, inspections, and job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Safely and efficiently load lime products into railcars and trucks according to established procedures.
  • Verify product type, destination, and loading requirements prior to shipment.
  • Operate Shuttlewagon equipment and/or similar railcar moving equipment, including remote-control systems, to position and move railcars safely throughout loading operations.
  • Inspect loading equipment and railcars to ensure proper operating condition before loading.
  • Clean railcars and loading areas as required before and after loading operations.
  • Seal loaded railcars in accordance with company requirements.
  • Accurately weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles using plant scale systems.
  • Generate bills of lading and shipping documentation using approved computer systems.
  • Complete loading tickets, shipment records, and operational documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, weights, and loading activities.
  • Obtain product samples from loaded railcars and trucks as required for quality testing and analysis.
  • Ensure product specifications and loading requirements are met before shipment.
  • Communicate quality or operational concerns to supervision and laboratory personnel as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the scale house, scales, loading areas, platforms, walkways, bins, and surrounding work areas.
  • Measure storage bins and monitor inventory levels as required.
  • Perform general cleanup activities throughout the plant and yard.
  • Support production and operational activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient plant operations.
