About The Position

The Niemann Harvest Market Bulk Foods Specialist is responsible for ensuring superior customer service, driving sales and profitability, and maintaining effective expense and payroll budget management. The specialist ensures effective inventory management and merchandising, follows store policies and procedures, and fosters the Niemann Harvest Market culture. The role covers bulk products sold in the store, including grains, flours, dried fruits, candies, nuts, and spices. No education or prior experience is required. Food Handler’s Certification and forklift/power industrial truck training are provided at store level as required.

Requirements

No education or experience required.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers and associates.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Food Handler’s Certification as required by state law; provided at store level.
Forklift/Power Industrial Truck training; provided at store level.
Ability to prioritize and multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, solve problems, and adapt.
Detail orientation, communication skills, curiosity, and the ability to build relationships with customers and associates.
Ability to regularly walk, use hands, reach, communicate, taste or smell, and lift or move up to 50 pounds; frequently stand, perform overhead lifting, balance, and lift or move up to 75 pounds; and occasionally sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 100 pounds.
Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and adjusting focus.

Responsibilities

Deliver superior guest service and ensure customer satisfaction.
Learn and use the three E’s: Engagement, Educate, Empowerment.
Engage customers through suggestive selling and sampling, and educate them about bulk shopping.
Know the seasonality, uses, and tastes of products offered.
Take responsibility for all bulk products sold in the store.
Perform department quality assurance checks and ensure proper product handling and rotation.
Promote and support established programs and sales.
Manage day-to-day operations to maintain stock levels, inventory, and cleanliness.
Work with other departments to arrange pairings and tastings.
Follow company programs, policies, and procedures, including health code and safety requirements.
Build relationships with Producers and Makers and source products in response to current trends.
Perform other duties as assigned.
