About The Position

The Bulk Foods Clerk sets up and maintains the department according to company standards, including bulk food bins and machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers. The role includes ensuring product quality and selection, providing friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, and performing other related work. Shifts are generally 6–8 hours between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.; the department operates 24/7, and varied shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Food Handlers Certification, as required by state law.
Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to communicate with customers to receive orders, upsell, and provide customer relations.
Ability to conduct visual inspections and read and follow guides, recipes, and product labels.
Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing approximately 20–30 pounds, and occasionally 30–50 pounds, from floor level to overhead.
Ability to push and pull hand trucks, carts, and pallet jacks carrying substantial product weight.
Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods; bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, and turn frequently.
Ability to make safe, quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Interpersonal skills and oral and written communication abilities.
Ability to work around potential hazards associated with equipment, tools, and work aids.
Ability to use cleaning chemicals and handle related food products.
Ability to wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other required personal protective equipment.
Ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Break down freight by moving products, placing them in inventory, and operating a forklift as needed.
Place products in barrels and dispensers, including moving products by cart, opening boxes with a cutter, and stocking the correct locations.
Maintain the coffee area by grinding coffee, making coffee, and stocking supplies.
Maintain machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers by loading products, cleaning machines and surrounding areas, and replenishing containers.
Help customers find products and use suggestive-selling techniques.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
Keep the work area, storage area, and selling floor clean and visually appealing; mop, sweep, and remove trash and garbage.
Perform duties honestly and with integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
