About The Position

The Built for the Mine Summer Internship is a partnership program with Virginia Tech, specifically for students enrolled in the Mining Engineering Program at VA Polytechnic Institute and State University. This internship is designed for Mining Engineering students and will be based out of Luck Stone's Engineering and Operational Support group in Manakin Sabot, VA. The role focuses on utilizing the CAT VisionLink Productivity system to gather, analyze, and learn from data at aggregate plants. Interns will travel to company locations in VA, NC, and potentially SC and GA to perform their duties. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in the Mining Engineering program at VA Tech.
  • Previous internship experience in a mining operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Surface aggregate experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Productivity KPI data from Plants using the CAT VisionLink Productivity system.
  • Work with the Plant Foreman to share results with Plant Team members.
  • Work with Plant Teams to understand the meaning of the data.
  • Work with Plant Teams to develop and execute operational improvement projects in the pit and mobile equipment fleet.
  • Work with Mobile Equipment Coaches to support operator training program.
  • Use VL Productivity data to build CAT VST Pro models of equipment performance.
  • Support Pit and Mobile Equipment efficiency improvement projects.
  • Develop cost benefit models to understand, prioritize, and determine impact of performance improvements.
  • Work with the Luck Stone Engineering & Operational Services (EOS) Business Data Analyst to understand or evaluate operational efficiencies.
