As a subject matter expert, you'll utilize your experience and knowledge of engineering principles and practices on various project assignments. Requirements

  • At least 10 to 20 years of mechanical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • PE license required.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASHRAE standards and building codes.
  • Advanced knowledge of coordination between design disciplines.
  • Advanced knowledge of project scope development.
  • Advanced knowledge of ventilation, humidity control, load calculations, and duct/piping sizing techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of air handlers, pumps, chillers, boilers (both steam and hot water), temperature controls, ductwork accessories, heat exchangers and tanks.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable design (LEED, energy codes, etc.).
  • Knowledge of renovation designs of historic buildings.
  • Knowledgeable in key architectural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection considerations as they relate to mechanical systems.
  • General knowledge of construction cost.
  • Proficient with relevant business and engineering applications.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Project.
  • Skilled in Google docs.
  • Working knowledge of CAD methods and procedures.
  • Comfortable with HVAC calculation software tools.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to delegate, mentor, and lead as required.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly meetings and share engineering expertise on behalf of the owner for all MEP issues at CPS schools.
  • Solve problems by visiting school sites to develop design solutions.
  • Contact building engineers and manufacturer representatives to resolve emergent equipment issues.
  • Develop design packages for implementation by independent AE firms.
  • Provide oversight to other AE firms and perform technical design reviews to ensure compliance with CPS standards.
