Our Property & Buildings team is growing, and we're looking for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Irvine, California office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of general buildings projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable mechanical system designs. As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of projects including commercial, mixed-use, civic, institutional, and workplace facilities. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and project teams while continuing to develop your technical, project management, and client-facing skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in the buildings industry.
  • Fundamental understanding of HVAC and building mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on commercial, institutional, higher education, civic, mixed-use, or other general buildings projects.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling, sustainability initiatives, and California building codes.
  • Exposure to construction administration and field observations.
  • Working knowledge of industry software such as HAP, TRACE, or similar HVAC design tools.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for building projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Utilize Revit and AutoCAD to support the development of construction drawings and BIM models.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, architectural, and other project disciplines.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
  • Support project managers in meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Review and apply applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.
