About The Position

CBCL is seeking a Buildings Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings Engineering team in Halifax, NS. This role involves collaborating with other design and construction professionals on challenging and exciting building projects. The position emphasizes sustainable design principles and delivering exceptional results for clients through all stages of the building design process. The ideal candidate will have experience designing building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building systems controls and commissioning, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy design and assessment. This is an opportunity to be a motivated self-starter, participating with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary building design solutions with a focus on client satisfaction and design practices.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Familiarity in the design of mechanical systems using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude
  • Performs well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Additional professional accreditations such as PMP, LEED AP, etc. would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist a design team to prepare contract documents for the following systems: HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building systems controls
  • Design of new construction and renovations of building projects such as healthcare administration, laboratory, assembly, recreational and residential
  • Coordinate design support staff across multiple disciplines
  • Manage projects to meet budget and deliverables
  • Meet and liaise with clients
  • Assisting with business development and proposals
  • Perform construction administration and field reviews
  • Document, plan, and conduct commissioning and start-up activities
