About The Position

This regular part-time position (0.5 FTE) at the L06 level is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and operating various systems and equipment within YHC facilities. These systems include heating/air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, Hydroclave, fire protection, boilers, and medical gas. The role requires working across multiple YHC locations, including hospitals and auxiliary buildings, and necessitates a strong understanding of mechanical repair, welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC principles, particularly in a hospital setting. The incumbent must also adhere to safety regulations and manage complex work demands.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical repair tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize skills in welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of principles of operation, control, and maintenance of HVAC systems and Medical Air Systems.
  • Good communications skills both written and oral.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, prioritize job tasks, and adapt to workload variances.

  • 4 Years Experience in operating and maintaining mechanical equipment in a building or plant maintenance position preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • A Valid Class 5 Yukon driver’s license with clean abstract.
  • Red Seal Trade ticket in Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Millwright, Refrigeration, HVAC, Instrumentation, Gas Fitter, Power Engineering Certification of any class, HVAC or Building Operator Certification.
  • An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered.
