About The Position

The Building Technician V (Electrical) is responsible for performing journeyman level electrical work. This role involves building and maintaining electrical services, reading and understanding electrical blueprints, and utilizing various hand tools such as screwdrivers, meters, wrenches, drills, and side cutters. The position requires knowledge of N.E.C. standards (National Electrical Code), the ability to climb ladders and perform work from heights, and the completion of daily work order reports and other related paperwork. Additionally, the technician will prepare estimates for time and materials, operate a bucket truck, and perform maintenance and electrical upgrades to all city facilities. The role also requires obtaining and maintaining a Texas Master License, working the assigned schedule, and complying with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Maintaining all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements without interruption is essential. Following all city safety guidelines is also a key responsibility, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years' experience in the electrical trade.
  • Possess a current Texas Journeyman License.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Texas Master License.
  • Ability to maintain all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements without interruption.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journeyman level electrical work.
  • Build and maintain electrical services.
  • Read and understand electrical blueprints.
  • Use hand tools (Screwdrivers, meters, wrenches, drills, side cutters, etc.).
  • Understand N.E.C. standards (National Electrical Code).
  • Climb ladders and perform work from heights.
