Requirements

  • Associate's degree or a two-year degree from a technical college related to a Building Infrastructure System maintenance program or completion of a one-year trade-specific program.
  • Four years of military experience in a related field will be considered in lieu of the educational experience requirements.
  • Experience working with Computers and various building control systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent human relations skills to interact with staff, visitors, and patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical or Plumbing license helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services and support to critical patient care areas including Emergency Department, Linen & Central Services, Pediatric & Neonatal & other Intensive Care Units, Inpatient care areas, Psychiatric & Complex Intervention Units, Transplant Units, Labor & Delivery, Cath Labs, and a Heliport.
  • Support the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and areas/occupants of a Chapel and Convent.
  • Complete Preventive Maintenance (PM) per policies and/or procedures following the CMMS timeline, aligning with The Joint Commission requirements.
  • Operate, maintain, repair, and diagnose complex, critical mechanical systems and portable equipment, including air handling equipment, fire alarm systems, building automation systems, fluid pumping for cooling and heating, security card access, refrigeration, freezer alarm systems, boilers, and other building electronic systems.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance duties such as belt replacement, lubrication, filter changing, and pressure washing inside of air handling equipment.
  • Respond to, investigate, and solve all emergency and repair calls received.
  • Communicate with all maintenance shops using work order systems and communicate with on-call maintenance staff as necessary.
  • Plan and schedule modifications and repairs to systems with minimal disruption to the organization's mission while meeting fiscal constraints.
  • Be alert to all aspects of equipment when responding to customer requests and communicate concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Give guidance to maintenance and security staff on facility issues (for Senior Building Systems Technician role).
  • May be required to perform activities outside of their job classification.
  • May be required to work with others in planning and scheduling for modifications and repairs to systems.
