Building Systems Engineer
About The Position
The Building Systems Engineer specializing in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS) designs, implements, and optimizes systems that manage and monitor building operations and electrical power distribution. The role ensures systems are efficient, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards. The position is primarily remote-based, with periodic site visits for system assessment, installation, and troubleshooting. It supports effective management of building and electrical power systems to enhance operational efficiency and support sustainability goals.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of building systems engineering experience focused on BMS and EPMS.
- Expertise in BMS and EPMS technologies, including familiarity with relevant software and tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Tridium, Distech, and Automated Logic.
- BMS/EPMS manufacturer training or certification, HVAC/electrical equipment certifications, LEED, CEM, or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement BMS and EPMS solutions, ensuring seamless integration with building infrastructure.
- Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance functionality.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex BMS and EPMS issues.
- Ensure systems comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Maintain documentation of system designs, modifications, and maintenance activities, and prepare reports on system performance and improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, facility managers, and other cross-functional teams to meet project requirements and objectives.
- Train and support facility staff on system operation and maintenance.
