Building Substitute - Kennedy Middle School
About The Position
The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for taking over the instruction for all grade levels and subject matter or provide paraprofessional coverage. Additionally, the Substitute Teacher may be required to provide support for all students including students with disabilities and English language learners. The Substitute Teacher should be able to follow the teacher’s lesson plan, be willing to use technology, and work in a team teaching environment. The Building Substitute Teacher will keep appropriate classroom records, provide a safe, nurturing environment for students, and establish clear expectations for learning and behavior.
Requirements
- Ability to take over instruction for all grade levels and subject matter or provide paraprofessional coverage.
- Ability to provide support for all students including students with disabilities and English language learners.
- Ability to follow the teacher’s lesson plan.
- Willingness to use technology.
- Ability to work in a team teaching environment.
- Ability to keep appropriate classroom records.
- Ability to provide a safe, nurturing environment for students.
- Ability to establish clear expectations for learning and behavior.
- DESE Certified Teacher and/or Bachelor’s Degree OR Some College Credits and/or Experience Working with Students OR Novice Substitutes and/or HS Diploma
Responsibilities
- Follow WPS and school building policies, rules and procedures.
- Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
- Complies with all procedures and schedules.
- Informs the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
- Implements effective pupil management procedures.
- Maintains a positive learning environment.
- Provide lunchroom and recess supervision.
- Other duties may be assigned by the building administrators.
