Big Woods Elementary School Building Substitute Teacher (for 2026-27 School Year)
About The Position
This is a district-wide position, assigned to a specific building. The Building Substitute Teacher will primarily fill absences among certified staff, but may be assigned to before and after school duty, lunch duty, supervision and other duties. The Building Substitute may also be assigned to fill support staff absences and may be assigned to other buildings on a daily or semi-permanent basis, based on the needs of the district. The role is responsible for preparing lessons, instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data to plan instruction, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parents, and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives, and learning professionally.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Required substitute teaching license or regular teaching license (short-call, long-call, or lifetime substitute teaching license or Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching license)
Nice To Haves
- Worked as a licensed teacher in a full-time, long-term substitute, building substitute, or daily substitute capacity for at least 60 student contact days in the STMA School District during the 2025-2026 school year (to be eligible for the higher level of pay)
