About The Position

Portland Public Schools’ seeks innovative and passionate education substitutes to join our team in each of the district’s DK-12 buildings to support the educational experience for our students and staff. Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications: Current ESS/WillSub substitutes or willing to become a ESS/WillSub substitute Michigan Teacher Substitute Permit The desired candidate would possess the following attributes: Knowledge of Portland Public Schools curriculum Willingness to commit for the entire 2026-2027 academic school year Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building a collegial relationships with students and colleagues Demonstrate knowledge of how to provide effective and engaging instruction in a variety of settings (whole group, small group, individual and collaborative) Demonstrate strong classroom management skills with the use of positive behavior interventions Demonstrate professional work habits and conduct consistent with the ethics of the profession.

Requirements
