About The Position

Under the general direction of the Legislative Faculties Management Director, responds to maintenance requests of routine difficulty and performs related work as directed. Handles necessary repairs as they arise, increasing in complexity with advancement through this classification. The Building Services Technician is a highly skilled maintenance professional responsible for performing advanced maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of building systems and equipment. This position performs complex work involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance. The technician may serve as a lead worker, provide technical guidance to other maintenance personnel, and coordinate maintenance activities with contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installation of building systems, equipment, and components.
Diagnose and repair complex electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general building maintenance issues.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building equipment and systems.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests and take appropriate action to protect building occupants, property, and operations.
Inspect building systems and equipment to identify potential maintenance, safety, and operational concerns.
Repair and maintain doors, locks, ceilings, walls, flooring, furniture, fixtures, and other building components.
Perform advanced carpentry, painting, drywall, and other renovation or construction-related work as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications.
Assist with the planning and completion of office renovations, building modifications, and special projects.
Coordinate and monitor the work of outside contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed according to specifications, safety requirements, and established standards.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, equipment history, and materials used.
Identify needed materials, equipment, and replacement parts and assist with inventory management and purchasing.
Follow all applicable safety procedures, building codes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in after-hours, weekend, and emergency response activities as required.
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
